Similar to botox, Juvederm is an injectible gel made of hyaluronic acid. It can be applied by your dermatologist, and it is said to add volume and hydration. Some studies have supposedly shown results superior to collagen based fillers. It can be used for laugh lines, smile lines, “parentheses”, or other mouth lines.
When you use Juvederm, you will be signed up for automatic emails and flyers with discounts and exclusive invitations. It is said to be free of animal biproducts and injections commonly take about 15 minutes. Its effects are also said to last up to a year per injection. It also uses hyaluronic acid, which is one of the most effective ingredients in the reduction of wrinkles and other signs of aging.
Juvederm is not an alternative to botox. It is rather meant to supplement the effects of treatments such as botox. But like botox, it can results in redness and swelling for up to seven days. Also like botox, it is highly expensive, and it has to be administered by a licensed doctor or dermatologist. They claim studies which place them above collagen based fillers, but they fail to cite those studies, and they don’t seem to exist in other searches. Juvederm is also made only for very specific problems and not for wrinkles in general.
Juvederm requires quite a bit more planning than your average wrinkle cream or serum. There are doctor’s appointments to schedule and events to plan in your life. It is approved by the FDA, but a number of dangerous and questionable things have been approved. Just like any other cream or serum, they make a lot of claims, including those about studies performed. But they fail to back those up. There are plenty of more affordable alternatives that provide more information available.
