NV Perricone MD

Riding on the wave of success created by his appearance on Oprah, Dr Perricone created his own line called NV Perricone MD cosmeceuticals. He uses three main categories associated with wrinkles called age prevent, age correct, and age less. And no, these products are not based on the 10 super foods.

Perricone anti-aging products use a number of useful ingredients such as DMAE, allantoin, and alpha lipoic acid. They offer full ingredients lists and information regarding some of the major ingredients included in all the products or a significant number of them.

He of course suggests however that any treatment be combined with a health and anti-inflammatory diet. The Perricone website provides a number of studies to try to back their products. But all the studies are only 4 weeks long, and they don’t provide the credentials of any of them, ie if they were randomized, double blind, placebo controlled, and most importantly, who they were conducted by. This leads me to believe the Perricone labs conducted these studies themselves, which would create an obvious bias. Riding on the Oprah wave, Perricone’s products are also some of the most expensive on the market, not necessarily due to credentials.

Dr Perricone has created his own line, and unfortunately, the products seem to be only average. He has used his name and Oprah’s name to popularize overpriced products. The aging products contain a few good ingredients, however lack others such as matrixyl in the formulations. I would not pay the amount he is currently asking, nor would I expect results in conjunction with Perricone products.
