The cosmetic market has searched endlessly for ways to remove scars. Research has developed several ways but very few can be used at home. HybriSil is said to do what no other product of its kind can: eliminate scars while preventing new ones in the home.
HybriSil is said to soften keloid and hypertrophic scars, while preventing new scars, minimizing inflammation, reducing discoloration and redness, and protecting skin from future scarring. HybriSil takes the cosmetic research of two scar removal approaches and puts them together in one product. In an easy to apply gel, HybriSil uses both steroids and silicone to treat and diminish scarring. HybriSil is designed to be used on all skin types, including ethnic skin. With such research and potential, does HybriSil actually work?
Description and Ingredients
HybriSil is made up of nearly ninety-eight percent silicone. Silicone has been shown to soften scars in direct application. As HybriSil’s base silicone is said to reduce inflammation and minimize raised scares. HybriSil also contains one percent of methylprednisolone acetate. This ingredient is a steroid in the corticosteroid genre with a mid-potency.
Steroids have been used in research to reduce the look of scars, when injected. All other ingredients are not listed.
Does It Work Around the Eyes?
HybriSil is not designed to work specifically around the eyes.
HybriSil does not list all its ingredients and comes with several serious side effects. Such side effects can be worse than a scar. Side effects for HybriSil include burning, skin maceration, hypertricosis, itching, secondary infection, acne-for eruptions, dryness, irritation, skin atrophy, hypoglycemia, perioral dermatitis, folliculitis, allergic contract dermatitis, melasma, and striae.
Steroids and silicone have been proven to work in other applications, but it has yet to be proven that they work when combined. With such factors and insufficient details of its ingredients, whether or not HybriSil works is subject to question.
