Wrinkle Creams

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

Wrinkle creams are important.  But any major wrinkle cream will take time, it’s a basic fact of life.  So while I definitely suggest finding the best wrinkle cream that will show you the results you are looking for, I would also suggest finding the right light and natural make up to help you to look younger and to help even and brighten your skin in the meantime.  Even with the right wrinkle cream, some find that their skin, though not wrinkled, is dull and lifeless, because even the best cream cannot do everything.

So for example, the right foundation can do a lot.  Make sure of course that it is an appropriate tone for your skin tone.  Otherwise, it will just look fake and obvious.  But there are different brands that work differently for differing skin types.  Many find that bare minerals works.  But others find that it is just not for them.

Second, look for the right eye makeup.  If you are using colors that compliment your eyes or those that make them stand out without making it look too obvious or clumpy among other things, people tend to focus on your eyes more than other problems in your skin.

Moreover, you can cover up dark spots, skin discoloration, and even dark circles in some cases with the right make up.  So many have found that while they like to use the right products, the right makeup practices can be the key to success in the meantime.

The Magic Spam Maqui Berry

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

For the umpteenth time in the last week or so, I received another ad in my junk mail box about the maqui super berry or something.  So they all focus on weight loss, anti aging, reduction of acne, and various other benefits.  But they seem to be focusing more on anti aging lately.  So I thought I would check it out.  After all, I send them the request to stop sending me the emails, and then I receive another one the next day.

As it turns out, there are quite a few “maqui berry” products just as there are many acai berry products.  They claim it to be high in antioxidants and high on the ORAC, some even naming a specific number.  But when checking out their ORAC score among other things, I found out why the maqui berry is not really a highly publicized superfruit, and at the same point of course I found out why many are not seeing the results with acai based products that they think they are going to get.  Blueberries have a higher ORAC score.  They aren’t as publicized, because you can buy them at your grocery store and nobody cares.  Blueberries however have greater benefits in the anti aging world, fighting off free radicals, protecting collagen and elastin, etc as well as a higher level of power in any other health related world.  And while I know that writing this will not necessarily encourage these companies to stop spamming me, I hope it might encourage those of you also receiving those emails to continue to or start ignoring them.

Home Treatments For Brown Spots

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

Brown spots are some of the things that plague our skin from an early time.  They are caused by darkening melanin, and they are generally treated with skin lighteners or bleaches that can go too far in bleaching the skin or they can also damage the skin, producing more free radicals among other things.  Still, brown spots, age spots, or liver spots, can literally appear anywhere at any time.  I have seen 20 year olds with them just as I have seen 50 year olds with them, though they are of course more common in the older generations.

If you are looking to reduce the signs of aging in general, the best way is to actually use peptides and other ingredients that produce more collagen and elastin or increase cell turnover with new and healthy cells.  But there are some that would also say you can use healthy and completely natural methods.  Some say that you should use yogurt.  Use a coffee filter, 4 oz of plain yogurt, a colander, and a large bowl.  You place the coffee filter in the colander, the yogurt in the coffee filter, and leave both in the refrigerator overnight to drain and thicken.  From there, you get a thick yogurt cream, which you can spread across your face, and it can stay good for about 3-7 days on average.  Exfoliate over skin and throat and then leave it for 5 minutes rinsing off with tepid water.  You should be sure to remove all yogurt, and then store the unused portions in the fridge.  They say they naturally contain AHA’s which naturally lighten the skin, and you can see results within 5 to 7 days.  I tried this to lighten some old scars, because I don’t have age spots to test it on.  But I didn’t really see a difference on a personal basis.  But with peptides and other types of formula like that, I have seen definite results.  So there is a good chance I am biased, and I assume some have seen results with this more natural method, or it wouldn’t be so popular among some.

Cucumbers

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

Cucumbers are made up mostly of water, the natural moisturizer and maintainer of many parts of the body and its systems.  It has various different properties, one of which is improvements in the skin.  Being high in water content, it actually naturally moisturizes your skin, which reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.  By this, I mean it reduces the occurrence thereof.  After all, your skin loses moisture as you age, it’s more of a maintenance thing.  But with really fine lines, it may reduce their appearance as well.  They are also high in fiber, which can reduce swelling, irritation, and other problems, and they are high in vitamins and minerals, which in deficiencies could cause premature aging.

Cucumber slices have actually been known to reduce puffy, swollen, and darkened circles under the eyes.  So when they use them for your facials, it’s not wasted in the least.  And finally, it is high in antioxidants, which can definitely help your skin to fight off free radicals and other problems.

With this entire combination, it’s easy to see why you would want to supplement cucumbers into your diet.  But another big thing to remember is to actually use it in your foods.  There are no cucumber pills, and frankly, it’s far too easy to implement into your diet than that.  You can use them in salads, sandwiches, and really virtually anything else.  So the best thing to do is to stop thinking of the reasons why you can’t use them and start considering where you could.
